Housewarming Christmas Party

Everybody loved the cake that Sam Walton baked.

And they loved the house too. Of course ;)

Backsplash

Countdown is still going on. How bloody depressing, really.

But anyway…

Went to the (still future) house last night. It was the first time we had visited it in the evening. So we tested all the lights out and have decided that we loved the way it looked outside (recessed lighting is a the bomb!). While inside, we need extra lighting for the bathrooms (both of them) and the pantry also needs more light too. And everything else is good to go!

Plus, we found that our new refrigerator also arrived! Here’s hoping that we really close on the house now or else that fridge is going back to the store!

I really hate being in limbo. It sucks, sucks, sucks.

P.S. Still hating the nameless bank. And I probably will until we finally close with new super cool bank.

P.P.S. I wanted to say that I love the backsplash featured in the photo. I want a mosaic backsplash.

through life’s ebbs and flows

rubiks cubeIf, if, if, if, if everything had gone as planned, we would have probably already finished moving all the small boxes into our NEW home by now. We would probably be popping the champagne by now. That or devouring a really, really rich chocolate cake. One or the other but most probably the latter ;)

But, as we all know, NOTHING went as planned.

For the most part, we’re over the whole “thanks for stuffing us around, STUPID BANK (still shall remain nameless)”. It’s not like being bitter about it is going to take back time to 11am this morning and have us in that moment of signing papers. This, that and the other is not gonna change anything. And them profusely apologizing and returning all our fees is not going to change our minds that they’re a bunch of d*ckheads that doesn’t deserve ANY of our business. Not in a million years will we ever bank with them. Customer lost FOR-E-VER. :P

Anyway….we met with our new lender this afternoon and handed over a small bonsai tree’s worth of paperwork. We’re in the 7-day cooling off period right now and then we can start the motion of CLOSING. Music to my ears. I went as far to ask the lender whether we would know in a week if we’ve been denied and his response was “We would know NOW if you were denied”. If that’s not a guarantee, then I don’t know WHAT IS. But then again, we got that same guarantee from the other bank and look where that got us.

But I’m getting a great vibe from this whole deal. And much like my favorite Aussie movie lawyer of all time, I think it’s all about the VIBE. And this one’s a good one!

pill pain Where to begin???

Well, we just feel royally screwed over by the bank (who will remain nameless).

Long story short, we were denied our home loan for TWO absolutely ridiculous reasons. Ridiculous reasons in the sense that one of the reasons they denied us was based on something that they knew from DAY ONE. It wasn’t something that just sprung up yesterday. They had known about this reason even before we put a bid on the house. STUPID BANK. The second reason was also a bit of a shock, but not one that they had known all along so we give them credit for that. Not really, though.

Anyway, to spare you all the drama, not all is lost. We fortunately found another bank that will take us on. And will do all the processing in two weeks – so new closing date is September 24th. New moving date is September 26th.If all goes well that is…

Today was tough. But I think it was far more heavy on my lovely husband, Zach. He got the bad news first hand and dealt with all the other arrangements like a pro. He had found a new bank to deal with within an hour of finding out we were denied. If only our lender and the processor were as competent at their job. And to put a twist on it, we found out the lender we had dealt with all along QUIT her job. She told us she was going on holidays, but it turns out she QUIT and put in her two weeks notice a while ago. So yeah, leaves a bad taste in your mouth, hey?

So that’s where we’re at. It was a bad day that has a glimmer of hope. Here’s hoping that if they’re going to deny us the loan, they would let us know ASAP. Instead of waiting 12 hours before closing time.

Anyway, I’ve lost my train of thought (some would question whether I even have one) and I just want to rant to my Mother now…

P.S. Life is still good. It’s not the end of the world. We still have our health, our sanity and our faith in the human race. I mean, sure we might not have a home to go to in two weeks time, but it’s during these kind of times that one must keep ones perspective. Life goes on, with our without a new home.

The End.

putting it on my list…

9 Sep

I’ve decided that I want this massive oval mirror. How divine. And that wall color just happens to be the same color as the one we have in our house. See, it’s meant to be…

In other news, we have the final walk-through at our house tomorrow. Unfortunately, I am up to my ears with work. Having Monday off this week really killed us, in a way. And since I have Friday off, I have to get all my work done by the end of Thursday. *sigh*

Oh well, it’s a walk-through and my awesome husband and more-than-competent realtor can handle all of it themselves, I’m sure of it.

Is it FRIDAY yet? 11am? Yeah? …………………………no? :(
